Rod Johnson told us how he downsized in order to invest
abroad....
“I wanted to finance a second
property in Bulgaria so decided to downsize in the UK to release
the finance I needed. When I was quoted a silly amount of
commission by an estate agent, I decided to try to sell
privately. I’d done it once before so knew how it all worked.
I chose “HouseWeb” because I liked the look of the site and was answered straight away whenever I emailed questions. It
was simple and straight forward putting the advert together. The
only time consuming thing was writing a decent description of my
house.
I’d
had the house valued by an agent but actually managed to sell it
for £5k more, making me a total of £9K better off by selling
privately as I did not have fees to agent to pay (less

studying house prices locally and not being greedy. You can pass
on some of the savings that you make to the purchaser. It’s
also well worth the effort to take really GOOD pictures.
It

it was not against my principles to do so.
I
must say I found the whole experience far better and less
stressful than previous experiences with estate agents. In the
past I’ve found that some estate agents were pushy, under
valued to get a sale and did not keep you informed at all times.
I
would tell anyone thinking of using an agent “Do NOT waste
your money”. HouseWeb’s site is a good site, easy to use and
simple to amend your advert. I received MORE and faster help
than I ever expected too. I’d like to thank them for that.”
