“I've
used HouseWeb twice now and been successful on both occasions”
Louise Bhatti from Watford wrote and told us:
“We
wanted to sell our town house to move to a larger property and
we were fed-up with estate agents charging a fee and then not
being pro-active, so decided to sell privately. We chose
HouseWeb because their site was the easiest to understand - some
of the others were a bit confusing -
and of course the prices of the packages. It was very
easy setting up the advert.
An
estate agent valued our house at £340,000 and we sold for £337,500.
We saved £3375 @ 1% by using HouseWeb, but it could be even
more as some estate agents charge 1.75% in our area.
I would
say that the
main advantage of selling your own home
is that when someone books to view you have direct
contact and a contact number, but with estate agents they ring
and book in viewings and then you sit and wait and a lot of the
time the people don't turn up, especially at night or weekends. So I did find it less
stressful.
People seemed to be mainly interested in the
kitchen, bathroom and local schools. So I would suggest that it
pays to learn as much as possible about the schools in your area
even if you don't have children. Don't get too deep into
conversation when showing people round - keep it basic chat to
do with the house or your area.
I've used HouseWeb twice now and been successful on
both occasions. Houseweb staff are so helpful and friendly.”
