Safety When Viewing Houses
When viewing houses, there are some common sense precautions which should be used.
Contacting the Vendor
- When making an appointment, ask the vendor for:
- Their name, address and phone number.
- Which number you should contact them on at short notice should you need to cancel or change the appointment.
- Directions to their house (check their HouseWeb advert for a map)
The Viewing
- It is a good idea to take someone with you, not just for security, but also to get a second opinion.
- If you can't take anyone with you, let either a friend, neighbour or relative know where and when you are going. Agree a time to contact them on your return.
- If you can no longer make the appointment, let the vendor know straight away.
- During the viewing, if for any reason your feel uneasy, simply make your excuses and leave. Don't feel pressured into staying. Listen to your instincts.
- Let us know if you have an unpleasant experience.
